What Are White Blood Cells?

Leukocytes, commonly referred to as white blood cells (WBCs), are a significant group of blood cells that come after erythrocytes (red blood cells) and thrombocytes (platelets) in terms of morphology. Unlike erythrocytes, leukocytes contain a nucleus, which allows them to have their independent metabolism and the ability to divide.
